Dissemination of campaign results  International  

International Costal Cleanup Day 2016-17

 

 

APLM collaborates annually in the international coastal cleanup campaign organized by  Ocean Conservancy.  The data presented here refer to the global coastal cleanup carried out in  September 16, 2016.

 

504,583 people participated in this campaign which collected 8 tons of marine litter , totaling almost 13,840,400 items.

 

The most common items are cigarette filters, beverage bottles and bottle caps. The 10 most common items are all made of plastic.

 

In last year's campaign, among the rarest items were found 1 piano, 4 drones, 2 typewriters, 8 microwaves and 56 toilets.
